11 am. The kids are out of the house – one in kindergarten, the other in the park. My wife’s at work. Still an hour till I have to leave for work. I find a comfortable place, grab a book I’ve been reading for close to two weeks, and start reading.

The temperature’s right. I am settled comfortably. No distracting noise in the background. No one around to keep an eye on or to ask me to do things. BLISS. All 30 seconds of it, till the phone rings, and my wife asks me to get her something from home.

Truth be told, if it lasted more than this, I probably would not have appreciated this moment to its real value. Thinking back, I have had several similar episodes this year. Not many – two or three – but they lasted long enough not to realize right then what I had right there.
